About Dr. Sidawi

I’m Dr. Alexander Sidawi, the primary psychiatrist at Analyze Psychiatry in Dr Phillips, Orlando. I provide care to Orlando and throughout Florida via telehealth. My colleagues would describe me as a diligent, knowledgeable and ethical person with a warm and welcoming demeanor. I am thankful to have completed my psychiatric training at the University of Florida, where I worked with a diverse patient population in a variety of settings including a large outpatient clinic, 7 inpatient units, 5 emergency rooms, and 1700+ beds across Shands and VA hospitals. I have extensive experience using medications and therapy to treat all psychiatric illnesses, with a particular interest in depression (MDD), anxiety (GAD), concentration (ADHD), obsessions/compulsions (OCD), trauma (PTSD), and personality disorders (borderline, narcissism, avoidant).

While at UF, I took a significant interest in psychodynamic psychotherapy and went on to win the Ross. A. McElroy Psychotherapy Award, a recognition of excellence in psychotherapy. While there are many fulfilling aspects of my career, one of them stands out most: when a patient and I have worked together to analyze an issue and the patient experiences an “aha” moment, a moment of sudden clarity where they understand something about themselves that they’ve never realized before. There is a lot to untangle in a person’s complex story. Often, the way a person learned to interact with their loved ones in childhood becomes a pattern that is unconsciously replayed in current relationships. I focus on bringing insight to these patterns and the emotions associated with them, including guilt, shame, anger, sadness, fear and loneliness among others. These insights can offer patients a new way to engage with the world, and with this outlook one can experience life in a more meaningful and fulfilling way.

After my training, I started my private practice in Dr. Phillips, Orlando where I have been happily serving the community I grew up in, offering a combination of medication management and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I provide both in-person and telehealth services, and place a big emphasis on comprehensive, convenient and ethical care.
